A special recognition ceremony was held today at the Tourism Complex Skardu by the Gilgit-Baltistan Sports Board, Baltistan Division, to celebrate the remarkable achievement of renowned national athlete and road runner Mr. Jamal Saeed, who successfully completed the challenging journey from K2 Base Camp to Skardu in just four days.
The ceremony was attended by male and female road runners, sports enthusiasts, and members of the sporting community from across Baltistan. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Baqir Hussain, Assistant Director Sports, Baltistan Division, congratulated Mr. Jamal Saeed on behalf of the Secretary Sports and Director Sports, Gilgit-Baltistan, and highlighted the significance of adventure and endurance sports in promoting fitness, resilience, and youth engagement.
Mr. Wajid Hussain, who recently joined government service through the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) and has been posted as Assistant Director Tourism, Shigar also attended the ceremony. Addressing the gathering, he commended Mr. Jamal Saeed’s extraordinary accomplishment and described it as an inspiring example of commitment, perseverance, and passion for sports. He noted that such achievements not only motivate young athletes but also contribute positively to promoting the adventure tourism and sporting image of Gilgit-Baltistan at the national level.
Other speakers also paid tribute to Mr. Jamal Saeed's exceptional feat and appreciated his contribution to promoting endurance sports in the region.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, commemorative shields were presented to Mr. Jamal Saeed and fellow athletes on behalf of the Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism, Sports and Culture Department in recognition of their outstanding contributions and dedication to sports.
