The vibrant and colorful opening ceremony of the “Maarka-e-Haq Jashn-e-Baharan” Inter-Departmental Sports Gala 2026 was held today in Gilgit-Baltistan with great enthusiasm and participation from various government departments.
The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Syed Mehdi Shah. Upon his arrival, Secretary Tourism, Sports, Culture & Youth Affairs Sardar Asad Haroon warmly welcomed the Governor and presented him with the traditional cultural cap of Gilgit-Baltistan as a gesture of hospitality and respect.
Minister for Tourism Syed Adil Shah also honored the Governor by presenting him with a traditional shawl during the ceremony. Director Sports Board Shah Muhammad was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the participants, Governor Syed Mehdi Shah highly appreciated the excellent and well-organized arrangements made by the Department of Tourism, Sports & Culture. He specially commended Secretary Tourism Sardar Asad Haroon and his entire team for their dedication, hard work, and professional efforts in successfully organizing the event.
The Governor stated that such healthy sporting activities are essential to keep the spirit of “Maarka-e-Haq” alive and to promote unity, teamwork, and positive engagement among government employees and youth.
Director Sports Board Shah Muhammad welcomed all athletes and officials representing different government departments and expressed gratitude for their active participation in the gala.
Employees from various government institutions participated in the sports gala with great passion, enthusiasm, and true sportsmanship, making the opening ceremony a memorable and energetic event.
