Tourism Department Gilgit-Baltistan and EvK2CNR Hold Certificate Distribution Ceremony for High Altitude Guides

Gilgit (PR): The Department of Tourism, Sports & Culture Gilgit-Baltistan, in collaboration with EvK2CNR, organized a prestigious certificate distribution ceremony to mark the successful completion of a two-and-a-half-year professional training program for High Altitude Guides. Caretaker Minister for Tourism & Culture Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Adil Shah, attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while Provincial Secretary Tourism & Culture Gilgit-Baltistan, Sardar Asad Haroon Mir, also participated in the event. Addressing the ceremony, Caretaker Minister Syed Adil Shah stated that Gilgit-Baltistan holds a unique position in the world due to its breathtaking natural beauty, towering mountains, and internationally renowned tourist destinations. He highlighted that several of the world’s highest peaks above 8,000 meters are located in Gilgit-Baltistan, making the region a major attraction for international mountaineers and adventure tourists. He emphasized that the promotion of mountaineering, adventure tourism, and professionally trained guides can create significant employment opportunities for youth while also strengthening the regional economy. Syed Adil Shah further stated that the government is committed to providing equal opportunities for women in mountaineering, tourism, and guiding sectors so they can actively contribute to the tourism industry. Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Tourism & Culture Gilgit-Baltistan Sardar Asad Haroon Mir said that countries focusing on tourism development have achieved strong economic growth. He cited Spain, Italy, France, and Nepal as prominent examples where tourism plays a vital role in the national economy. He expressed satisfaction that participants from all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan successfully completed the internationally standardized High Altitude Guides training program. He assured that similar training initiatives would continue in the future to produce more professional guides meeting international standards. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Caretaker Minister Syed Adil Shah and Secretary Tourism & Culture Sardar Asad Haroon Mir distributed certificates among the successful participants and appreciated their achievements.
