Successful Aerial Evacuation of Stranded Tourists from Fairy Meadows. Exemplary Coordination by Diamer Administration, Pakistan Army, and Local Community.

Gilgit, July 25, 2025 — A successful aerial rescue operation was conducted this morning to evacuate stranded tourists from the scenic but currently inaccessible region of Fairy Meadows. The Pakistan Army's Aviation Unit, under the direction of the Commander FCNA and supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Diamer and Wing Commander 112 Wing, carried out two helicopter sorties between 7:30 AM and 11:30 AM. The operation safely evacuated three female tourists and one male tourist from Fairy Meadows to Gilgit, despite challenging weather conditions and dense cloud cover. The timely intervention aimed to prioritize the elderly, women, and physically vulnerable individuals. Meanwhile, the ground evacuation of other stranded tourists is ongoing with full momentum. The effort is being led collaboratively by the district administration, security forces, and dedicated local volunteers. Tourists and affected families have expressed deep gratitude and admiration for the tireless efforts of the Diamer District Administration, Pakistan Army, and the local population. Their unity, courage, and swift response in the face of a natural crisis have been widely praised as a model of effective emergency response and humanitarian commitment.
