Rama Lake

Rama Lake, also known as Rama Tal, is a high-altitude lake located in the Astore District of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan. Situated at an elevation of about 3,507 meters (11,506 feet), it lies near the foot of the majestic Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest mountain in the world. The lake is known for its stunning beauty, surrounded by lush green meadows and dense forests of pine and cedar. Rama Lake is a popular destination for trekking and adventure tourism, offering breathtaking views and a serene environment. The best time to visit is during the summer months, from May to September, when the weather is relatively mild and the trails are accessible. How to Get There • From Islamabad you can take a domestic flight to Skardu or Gilgit. • From Skardu or Gilgit, you can hire a jeep or take local transport to reach Astore. The journey from Gilgit to Astore takes about 4-5 hours by road. • From Islamabad, you can travel by road to Astore. The journey can take around 15-17 hours, depending on road conditions. • Once in Astore, you will need to hire a jeep to take you to Rama Meadows, which is the base point for visiting Rama Lake. The jeep ride from Astore to Rama Meadows takes about 2-3 hours.
