Emergency Declared on Babusar Road — Tourists Advised to Avoid Travel

Chills, July 22, 2025 In light of the recent flash floods and deteriorating weather conditions, Deputy Commissioner of Diamer, Mr. Atta-ur-Rehman Kakar, has officially declared an emergency on the Thak-Babusar Road and issued a formal notification. The decision has been taken to ensure public safety and prevent further loss of life and property. According to district officials, severe flash floods have damaged significant portions of the Babusar Road, leading to: Extensive road blockages Multiple vehicles swept away by floodwaters Several tourists reported missing Families stranded at various points along the road Due to the breakdown of communication infrastructure in the affected area, many tourists have lost contact with their families. However, over 200 tourists have been safely rescued and relocated to Chilas through the joint efforts of the district administration, rescue teams, and local residents. Authorities have confirmed that nighttime darkness and continuous rain are making search and rescue operations extremely challenging.
