International Mountain Day 2024 (Skardu)

The Department of Tourism, GB, and Sadpara Mountaineering School Skardu, in collaboration with its partner organizations, celebrated International Mountain Day on December 13, 2024, at Sadpara Mountain School, Skardu, under the theme "Mountain Solutions for a Sustainable Future – Innovation, Adaptation, and Youth." The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of mountains and the challenges they face due to climate change and human activities. The main event took place at Sadpara Mountain School, Skardu. The Secretary of Tourism, GB, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while the Commander of the 62nd Brigade was the Guest of Honor. The Commissioner of Baltistan Division, government officials, heads of NGOs, officials from the University of Baltistan (UoB), representatives from the private sector, prominent tour operators, mountain legends, and community representatives, as well as media personnel, were present at the event. The honorable guests distributed certificates to the mountaineers for their tireless efforts and shields to the partner organizations for their contributions in making the event successful. The mountaineers of Sadpara amazed the audience with a live rock climbing and rappelling demonstration.
