The Jashan-i-Baharan Freestyle Polo Tournament began at Aga Khan Shahi Polo Ground. Various teams from all the districts of the region, including government departments, are among the teams, taking part in the competitions.

The Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism and Sports Department is organizing the tournament, which is an annual feature. Youngsters, elders and even children from across the region come here in Gilgit to witness the freestyle polo matches.

The event provides a lot of enjoyment to locals as they eagerly await the occasion throughout the year, particularly after the long harsh winter.

While speaking on the occasion, President Gilgit-Baltistan Polo Association Mr. Zia said that the freestyle polo played in the region, providing an opportunity of joy and entertainment to the locals as well as the foreign tourists visiting Gilgit-Baltistan.

Mr. Shah Muhammad, Director GB Sports Board said that polo was called the game of kings, but now in GB it has become a national game. He said the government of Gilgit-Baltistan making efforts for restoring all the polo grounds in the region.
